one of our YMO co-hosts: Emrys LoweJust like our twice-monthly Open Mics for adults, the Young Musicians' Open Mic has a focus that's 100% on the music.

Teen co-hosts who are students from several area high schools, performers themselves, facilitate the evening --- from running the sound board to introducing the acts.  Enjoying the music, improving performance skills, and keeping the tone respectful is the focus: Studio 99 is a listening room environment.

15-minute, 3-song sets are the rule, unless there is a very large turnout (in which case, sets will be cut to two songs).

about open mic etiquette ...

*Thanks for understanding about our age limitations.  While there are many wonderful pre-teen musicians out there, our goal is to create a space for musicians of middle and high school age to perform that is supportive and respectful, yet benefits from a sophisticated music-centric listening room setting.

Snacks, soft drinks, waters, chocolates, coffee and tea available for purchase

vocal mics, PA, congas, and grand piano onsite

guitarists and bassists:  bring your own gear and amps!

drummers: Straight-ahead rock drumming with sticks is too much for the room,

which has a very live acoustic --- but hot rods or brushes are OK
