Geils, the guitarist behind the J. Geils Band, was onhand to sit in with the Trio. Gerry invited J., a longtime colleague who lives just over the line in Massachusetts, up to Nashua for the evening.

NH Jazz Presents founder/producer, Jon Lorentz, also sat in for a few tunes on tenor sax. When he's not working hard as a music presenter, Jon plays gigs throughout New England.

The Nashua Telegraph's Bob Hammerstrom was there to capture some of the best moments from the set. Article and video here.

Several amateur photographers were onhand during the evening as well. Here's a collection of their photos:

Gerry Beaudoin has carved out a 30 year career as a leader, arranger and guitarist. Encouraged by jazz legends Bucky Pizzarelli and Kenny Burrell after meeting them as a young student, Gerry combined the chordal techniques and sensibilities of Pizzarelli with the bluesy swing of Burrell to create a unique style all his own. In 1992 Gerry released his first recording as a leader "In a Sentimental Mood" to rave reviews, and has since released "Sentimental Over You" and "Sentimental Christmas," all to rave reviews.

Beaudoin's recent recording "The Return" (featuring Harry Allen) was called "Pure pleasure" by jazz critic Fred Bouchard. Mr. Beaudoin has performed or recorded with many luminaries, including Ronnie Earl, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, Jay McShann, Dick Johnson, John Pizzarelli, Duke Robillard, Gatemouth Brown, Dave McKenna, Alan Dawson, Karrin Allyson, Dave Grisman and J. Geils.

Gerry will be joined onstage by saxophonist Rich Lataille. Mr. Lataille is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated band, Roomful of Blues. Having performed in the legendary contemporary blues group for forty years, Rich can play lyrically tender or blisteringly hot, with a big, warm tone that is always "jam-packed with feeling."

Sofferman Perspective, featuring tenor sax great Jerry Bergonzi, tonight at 8

Studio 99 is proud to be an affiliate venue for NH Jazz, an organization centered around Pitman's Freight Room in Laconia, NH. The Freight Room is an antique railroad depot, now hosting traffic of very different kind: central NH jazz fans!

After returning to northern New England, Jon founded NH Jazz as an organization "dedicated to the preservation and further evolution of jazz music." After building a strong audience in Laconia, Jon has reached out to other jazz-friendly northern New England listening rooms: NH Jazz concerts will also be presented at Brandon Music in Brandon, VT, and here at Studio 99 in Nashua.

Tuesday nights (weekly at 8 pm) will be Studio 99's turn to host the superb acts that Jonathan has booked via NH Jazz.
