Nicholas has performed at two of our Open Mics in the past few months, bringing our audience to their feet with loud applause. It's seldom that an unaccompanied soloist plays with so much power and range. Bogosian must be heard to be believed!
BIO: Nicholas Bogosian takes audiences down a revelatory path of the enduring soul of early American mountain music. His solo style replete with clawhammer banjo, fiddle, foot percussion, and voice surprises with buoyant energy, frenetic joy, and an intimate sorrow.
He fell in love with old time mountain music after spending a summer in the North Georgia foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It was there, in 2007, that he began his mentorship with John Grimm, banjo player and fiddler of “The Georgia Potlickers.” In Houston, Texas (his hometown) he formed the old time stringband “The June Apples” where they played numerous hootenannies and frolics around the city.
In 2009, he moved to the Ohio Valley and began to hone his skills as a solo musician there. The summer of 2010 brought him a variety of gigs around the Ohio Valley, including a regular artist spot on the Wheeling Jamboree Radio Show. A typical set includes energetic and soulful banjo and fiddle breakdowns, stark ballads, flatfoot percussion, waltzes, and traditional mountain singing. His recent self-released album Old Soul marks his first venture into songwriting.
Now living in Haverhill, MA, Nicholas is introducing New England to his old-timey/roots sound, to great acclaim.
