Ian Ethan Case, featured at Studio 99 on Friday 5/8/09, profiled in the Telegraph

Journalist and music writer Jen O'Callaghan, author of the local music blog Granite Sounds, has profiled Ian in an article from today's Nashua Telegraph.

An excerpt:

For Case, music has always been about discovery. He doesn’t believe that he or any artist creates music.

“It’s more like digging up some buried treasure or dusting off a fossil rather than manufacturing something that didn’t exist before. To me what people tend to call creativity is just us becoming aware of things that are true.”

His awareness has changed with his double-neck, which he addresses as an 18-string instrument on its own terms rather than as two guitars stuck together.

“It’s like I can talk now,” he said. “The stuff I’ve been trying to say musically for years is coming out.”
