This jam is for those who want to pursue a sound based on groove, synthesis, shifting textures, digital loops, lyrics, and the pure improvisation which results when when some or all of these factors are combined in a group jam. This jam focuses on creating live, interactive, groove-oriented music that combines elements of HipHop, jazz, funk, dub, afro-beat, pop, and world to create new, in-the-moment music.
Please don't arrive with a specific tune in mind or a particular chart in your hand: a successful pure improv jam arises out of listening, collaboration, and in-the-moment experimentation. Players are encouraged to listen to one another and trust their ears to let the groove and the music flow and evolve.
Electronic, amplified, and acoustic instruments, whether from the Western tradition or elsewhere in the world, are all welcome: percussion, keyboards, guitars, bass, ethnic "world" instruments, vocalists (singers and MCs), DJs, and computers (samples & programming).
